From Salty's to Four Oaks: My Hair Journey in Oregon owner

Let me introduce myself – I'm Tim Butterworth, hair stylist and owner of Four Oaks Day Spa here in Central Point. It's been quite a journey to get here, and I wanted to take a moment to share a bit of my story with you.

I am a true Oregonian, I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. I wouldn't say I always envisioned myself in the hair industry. In fact, my first job was a world away from the beauty industry – I was a teenager my freshman year of high school when I started bussing tables at Salty's on the Willamette, a fancy seafood restaurant that I worked at from 1980-88. It was a great experience where I learned the importance of teamwork and exceptional customer service, values that I still hold dear today. It's all about creating a positive experience for each and every client.

Now, how did I end up in hair? Well, you could say it was almost accidental. Back in 1987, I stepped into the industry, and it quickly captured my interest, though it's been a whirlwind ever since! By 1990, I knew I wanted to be my own boss, and I haven't looked back since. Being self-employed has been incredibly rewarding, but it definitely hasn't been easy.

Here's the thing: education is everything in this field. I've poured my heart and soul into mastering my craft, and I wouldn't be where I am today without the incredible mentors who guided me along the way. I am humble enough to say I am always learning and trying to be better than my past self.

My journey isn't just about work. My faith and family have been my rock. My grandparents instilled in me a strong work ethic and the belief in never giving up – two things that have served me well. I've also been incredibly fortunate to have had amazing mentors along the way who helped guide me. And of course, my wonderful wife and two grown daughters are my biggest cheerleaders. Deanne is not only my wife, she is my best friend.

In 2011, I decided to take a leap and move to Southern Oregon. It was a chance to start fresh, and that's exactly what I did. By 2017, I had the incredible opportunity to purchase Four Oaks Day Spa. Building this salon spa has been an amazing experience. My team here is more than just colleagues – they're my salon family. We're all on this journey together, constantly learning and growing from each other.

Here's a belief I hold close: there's always something new to learn, no matter where you are in your career. A seasoned stylist can learn from a fresh perspective just as much as a new stylist can benefit from experience. The day we stop learning is the day we stop growing.

Now, when I'm not at the salon, you most likely find me doing something with my wife at home or around town. We love the coast and try to escape for some beach therapy as often as we can.  I love home remodeling and DYI projects, learning new things on the computer, playing chess with my buddy Jason over a beer or even battling it out on a video game with my brother Kraig (don't judge!). These hobbies keep me balanced and help me recharge for the next chapter at Four Oaks and my busy life.

So, that's my story in a nutshell. I'm excited to be on this journey with you, helping you look and feel your best. Come on in, let's chat, and create something amazing together!
